JLS concists of the following members Oritse Williams, Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes and Jonathan 'JB' Gill. Before JLS went to audition for the X Factor in 2008 they performed at a showcase LIVE in October 2007 and in June 2008 under the name of UFO.

JLS aditioned for the fifth series of the X Factor in 2008, they fell under Louise Walsh's category, they performed through all ten weeks of the competion, thier performances were.

JLS made it to the final and got to perform the winner's song 'Hallelujah' which other finalist Alexandra Burke sung aswell JLS didn't win the X Factor, they were runners up.
Since the X Factor JLS signed to Epic Records and were allowed to support Lemar's 2009 Spring tour. Their first single 'Beat Again' was released in the UK on 13th July 2009 and went to number one in the singles chart on 19th July 2009, it sold over 100,000 copies within the first week. ![]() | ||
